By default Intel puts low quality thermal paste between the actual CPU Die and the IHS (integrated heat spreader).* To improve this, we offer to "delid" the CPU - remove the IHS by cutting through from all corners, ensuring we do not cut through the PCB of the CPU using precision tools, then remove the IHS. We then remove the stock thermal paste and replace it with Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut, which is better at dissipating heat.

By delidding your CPU, you can expect significant temperature drops, usually between 10-15C under load.
*Applies to Intel LGA (land grid array) desktop CPUs only and does not apply to Intel BGA (ball grid array) mobile CPUs. Note some of our products use LGA desktop CPUs.
