We find that QHD resolution is the best medium as it provides superior image quality to the FHD resolution but without being so taxing on the graphics card. It also offers higher refresh rates which results in smoother animations and game play. LCD panels look the best at their native resolution but since laptops have smaller screens, if you set the screen to the native resolution (ie. 4K) then text and icons will look very tiny which is why by default, Windows applies a 150%-200% DPI scaling. DPI scaling controls how large the font and icons look. The problem is, Windows DPI scaling is far from perfect as some apps might display blurry or misaligned text/icons if they were not programmed properly to deal with DPI scaling. DPI scaling also reduces sharpness and quality but with an FHD or QHD screen you are able to clearly read text/icons at the native resolution without DPI scaling.
Also note, if battery life is important to you FHD and QHD displays will give you better battery life than 4K UHD displays as they have fewer pixels.
We recommend display calibration for people who are video/photo editors and want their footage or prints to look exactly the way they see it on their screens. We use the latest colorimeter from Calibrite (formerly known as X-Rite) which is the Display Plus HL which offers precision calibration for demanding creatives with the latest display technology!
The Calibrite Display Plus HL is the only calibration device to measure up to 10,000 nits! With the Display Plus HL, you’ll get the most advanced display calibration for the full gamut potential of all IPS, mini-LED, and OLED panels available, as the advanced HL (high luminance) sensor enables greater color accuracy for current and emerging super-bright display technologies. Display Plus HL covers broadcast video standards NTSC, PAL SECAM and ITU-R Rec.709, as well as BT.1886 tone curve for Rec.2020 – the standard for HDTV. Perfect for high-end filmmaking, editing, design, photography and more.
Minimize LCD Backlight means we will give you the best display with the least backlight bleeding from that model that we have. Please note that LCD Backlight bleeding is a common trait in LCD panels and while we will do our best to minimize it and give you the best panel, we cannot guarantee 0 backlight bleed.
The no defective dead pixel warranty ensures you will get a screen with 0 dead pixels. Usually, up to 3 dead pixels is considered "normal" according to manufacturers and cannot be a reason for you to return a laptop but with the dead pixel warranty, you are guaranteed to get a perfect panel.
